Animal Care:
NVQ Level 3 in Animal Health & Management
The workplace is an important element of the course as it provides the working environment where a range of practical skills are both taught and assessed. These will be recorded in a portfolio of evidence which forms a key element of the overall assessment of the course.
This programme can be delivered as part of an Apprenticeship Scheme.
Units include:
- Health and safety
- Health and well being of animals
- Feeding and watering
- Diets and feeding regimes
- Accommodation of animals
- Control and restraint of animals
- Development and monitoring policies for the management of animals
- Business management
Assessment
Assessment is carried out on a continuous basis involving practical observations in the work place, related knowledge tests and the collection of evidence which is incorporated into a portfolio.

Entry Requirements:
NVQ level 2 / Prospective students are required to be employed at a supervisory level in the Animal Care industry.
Typical Employment:
Veterinary nursing, work with animal sanctuaries, pet shops, police, RSPCA work, RSPB warden, animal technician, Blue Cross or PDSA.
