Animal Care:
NVQ Level 3 in Animal Health & Management

SnakesThe workplace is an important element of the course as it provides the working environment where a range of practical skills are both taught and assessed.  These will be recorded in a portfolio of evidence which forms a key element of the overall assessment of the course.

This programme can be delivered as part of an Apprenticeship Scheme.

Units include:

  • Health and safety
  • Health and well being of animals
  • Feeding and watering
  • Diets and feeding regimes
  • Accommodation of animals
  • Control and restraint of animals
  • Development and monitoring policies for the management of animals
  • Business management

Assessment

Assessment is carried out on a continuous basis involving practical observations in the work place, related knowledge tests and the collection of evidence which is incorporated into a portfolio.
