Level 2 Diploma in Countryside Management (including elements of Forestry and Gamekeeping)
This course is based on an integration of theoretical and practical lectures backed up by work experience. You will gain experience in a range of countryside skills through theory and work experience on the College’s estate. It will allow you to either progress onto Level 3 Diploma courses or move into employment.
Course Content:
Units may include:
- Undertake work related experience in the land-based Industries
- Environmental and land-based business
- Participate in providing estate maintenance
- Introduction to boundary habit conservation
- Introduction to pest and predator control
- Introduction to practical forestry skills
- Tractor driving
- Introduction to deer management
- Introduction to countryside access and recreation
Additional qualifications
Your programme of study will include a First Aid Certificate and a Certificate of Competence
Functional Skills
All full-time learners will be required to study Functional Skills at the appropriate level. These will be in maths, English and in some cases ICT. Attendance to these sessions is mandatory, please refer to the Functional Skills section of this website for more details.
Assessment
Assessment is continuous with assignments, projects and practical work and includes 150 hours of work experience over the duration of the course.
