Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport - Outdoor Adventure
This course is based on both lectures and practical skills development and is equivalent to three A levels.
Learners are given an outstanding introduction to most outdoor activities including coasteering, sea kayaking, gorge walking, caving, bouldering, mountain biking, kayak surfi ng, skiing, orienteering, archery, bushcraft and mountain boarding. The four outdoor activities of kayaking, canoeing, climbing and hill walking are taught in depth over the two years and students will have the opportunity to gain National Governing Body (NGB) awards in these areas. Students are also given sound expedition experience over the two years through the mediums of land and water based journeys.

Functional Skills
All full-time learners will be required to study Functional Skills at the appropriate level. These will be in maths, English and in some cases ICT. Attendance to these sessions is mandatory, please refer to the Functional Skills section of this website for more details.
The following National Governing Body qualifications are offered to learners. It must be emphasised that although we endeavour to provide opportunities for learners to complete the qualifications successfully, we cannot guarantee all learners will meet the prerequisites nor can we guarantee they will achieve the assessment criteria, as a high level of skills and knowledge are required to achieve the qualifications successfully.

Assessment
Assessment is continuous with assignments, projects and practical work.
A range of assessment methods are used including written tasks, group and individual presentations, reports, video analysis and practical skill observations.

Level 2 Diploma (at Merit or Distinction); Level 2 Apprenticeship; NVQ Level 2 in Sport and Leisure Studies or equivalent qualification; Minimum of four GCSEs at grades A to C to include Maths and English or equivalent. Places will be offered subject to a successful interview
