Lifelong Learning Qualifications for Teachers Diploma for Literacy & Numeracy Specialists

Introduction

BookThis course, for which we are currently seeking validation, is intended to offer qualified FE Teachers in Basic Skills the opportunity to gain this often essential Level five professional development in literacy. This qualification has been made compulsory by some institutions for all new teachers of Adult Basic Skills.

Entry Requirements

Candidates will hold either a PGCE, Cert Ed or other approved teaching qualification, will normally have an English Language or Maths qualification Level 3 and will undertake 30hrs (min) literacy/numeracy teaching practice across at least two core curriculum levels.

Course Contents

Subjects studied will include:

  • Strategies for teaching your specialist subject
  • Literacy or numeracy and society
  • Developing literacy and  numeracy and strategies in own specialist area

There is continuous assessment through course assignments.
