Management:
NVQ 5 Management
(Chartered Management Institute)
Introduction
This is a flexible, rolling course offering a realistic approach to competence accreditation. Operational managers often reach their status through hard work and perseverance within an organisation and do so without the benefit of a recognised management qualification. An NVQ at level 5 redresses this situation by certifying a transferable skill – so important in the labour market of the 21st Century.
The course provides a balance between the needs of the Manager and the Organisation by offering a fully flexible approach to competence accreditation.
Your capability will be enhanced through the practical application and knowledge of operational and tactical management techniques, principles, theories and models. You will gain competence accreditation in optimum operational utilisation of resources. These include effective communication and human resource management as well as a high level of operations and service management.
Entry Requirements
Applicants must be employed and operating at the level of an operational manager.
Course Content
You will complete three mandatory units in which you will demonstrate your knowledge, understanding and competence.
You will then have a choice of optional NVQ units including production of relevant, authenticated and current evidence and thorough responses to assessor questions to confirm the knowledge requirements. You will provide evidence of competence on the following units from the National Occupational Standards for Management and Leadership, produced by the Management Standards Centre (MSC).
The four mandatory units are:
- Develop and evaluate operational plans
- Provide leadership and direction
- Plan change
(All of the above are in relation to your own area of responsibility) - Work productively with colleagues and stakeholders
Plus optional units that add up to a minimum of 15 credits, which are discussed at enrolment to ascertain suitability.
