Young Persons Countryside Days

Course Content

This course is designed for 13 to16 year olds and is designed to give a taste of what countryside interests are on offer. Over two days each student will participate in approximately two hours of supervised activity of each of the topics listed. During this time they will gain an insight and understanding of each activity which is aimed to be a fun learning experience, open to all students whatever their experience.

Course Content

To include:

  • Clay pigeon shooting
    Learn the safety and fun associated with hitting a moving target with a
    shotgun
  • Tractor driving
    Test your skills on a college tractor
  • Woodland walk
    Identify different trees, plants and animals in the woods and be able to recognise animal tracks and other signs
  • Target shooting
    Test your marksmanship with a small calibre rifle
  • Farm tour
    Enjoy a guided tour around the College’s organic farm and estate looking at the Pedigree Hereford cattle, sheep and arable crops
  • Conservation work
    Take part in a small conservation project to help enhance the natural environment we live in
