Education/Teacher Training
These courses prepare or qualify you to teach or train in the lifelong learning sector including in workplace, adult, voluntary and community education as well as in further education colleges.
Please note that these qualifications are not appropriate if you wish to teach in schools.
The award Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS Level 3/4) can be undertaken by those who need an initial award to prepare for their role as a teacher or a trainer and who are not presently teaching. It is also an entry qualification for the certificate and diploma programmes.
The Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS) is aimed at those with an associate teaching role, for example teaching on a one-to-one basis, short courses or on a programme that is confined to one level/subject/type of learner. Completion of the programme enables learners to gain Associate Teacher in Learning and Skills status (ATLS). The Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS) enables learners to gain full Qualified Teacher in Learning and Skills Status (QTLS) with the Institute for Learning. This is a requirement for those with a full teaching role, performing all teaching related activities and with full responsibility for their learners.
Unless otherwise stated, all courses will take place at the Hereford Campus.
