Entry Requirements

Candidates must have achieved the Award in Chainsaw and Related Operations and the Award for Felling Small Trees CS31. The course covers the felling of Medium Sized Trees with a diameter of 380-760mm.

Course Content

  • Risk assessment and emergency procedures
  • Felling techniques of trees between 380-760mm diameter
  • Take down of hung up trees by hand and mechanical winches
  • Delimbing and snedding techniques
  • Cross-cutting and conversion

Assessment/Progression

Following the course, candidates will be assessed for NPTC Award to Fell and Process Trees Over 380mm Diameter CS32. This is a practical assessment. Tests take place on a separate day, test date will be confirmed at the start of the course. Candidates can then progress onto Sever Individual Uprooted Trees CS 34. This course is not run on a regular basis at the College, but can be arranged for groups of four people.
