Fees Guidance - Part Time Courses
Course costs vary for students under the age of 19 years compared with those of adult learners. Some courses receive no government subsidy whereas others are partially or in some cases fully subsidised.
How much is my course?
Fees have been included alongside some courses to act as a guide when choosing your course. Some fees may be subject to change or may exclude material and exam fees. For these reasons we advise that you call our enquiry line on 0800 032 1986 or email enquiries@hct.ac.uk to find out the relevant costs for when you enrol. When you are offered a place on a course, this is conditional on payment of the appropriate fee at enrolment.

How do I find out if I am entitled to reduced fees?
If you are in receipt of certain means tested benefits (Job Seekers Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance in the Work Related Activity Group) you may be entitled to a reduction in fees.
IMPORTANT: As a result of a change in Government policy, we regret that from August 2011 fee reductions will no longer be available to recipients of Council Tax Benefit, Housing Benefit, Income Support, Working Tax Credit, Pension Credit, contribution-based ESA, or unwaged dependants of recipients.
Valid documentary evidence of any qualifying benefits received must be provided in order for fee reduction to be allowed. Please note that disability related benefits such as DLA, Carers Allowance and Invalidity Benefit are not classed as means tested and therefore do not qualify for fees reduction. If you are 16-18 years old you will not be charged tuition fees on government funded courses. For further information please ring the enquiry line on 0800 032 1986.
Can I pay by instalments?
You can pay by instalments on certain high cost courses. We regret that we are unable to offer this facility on courses where the total cost payable is less than £200. The instalment plan consists of 25% deposit at enrolment followed by three equal monthly payments by standing order, commencing in December. Account facilities are available to employers, provided that written evidence is produced in advance of the student’s enrolment, indicating that the employer is willing to pay fees on the student’s behalf.
HCT accepts payment by cash, cheque (with banker’s card) or credit card (most types accepted)
What happens if I need a refund?
Classes need to be viable in order to run. If there are not enough students, a full refund will be paid. Refunds for any other reason are only granted in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of the College.
What fees will apply if I am an overseas students (non-EU)
HCT welcomes students from overseas and we’re sure that you will find HCT an ideal place to study. HCT has attracted students from all over the world, including Australia, China, USA and many other countries.
Fees for students who are from overseas are applied at a different rate from those indicated in this guide. For information regarding course fees, when applying as an overseas student (this includes those who have not lived in the EU for more than 3 years). Please contact the Learner Services Team on the enquiries line 0800 032 1986.
