Since Graduating from Herefordshire College of Technology’s National Diploma in Arboriculture course at Holme Lacy this year, David Gardner has been branching out all over the Country as an assistant consultant for his employers, Adrian Hope Tree Services. He has surveyed and assessed trees for Health and Safety reasons for organisations such as the National Trust, Housing Developers and advised on planting or removal for Private individuals.

He returned to Herefordshire College of Technology’s Holme Lacy Campus on 7th November to receive the Royal Forestry Society’s George Clive award for Top Student of the Year. Presenting the Award Mr C. J. Jarvis, Chairman of the Hereford Division said “The Royal Forestry Society does its best to encourage young people in Forestry by recognising their achievements. They award bursaries, organise competitions, targeting selected age groups and tree species. Donating this award is just one more incentive to students to excel in Arboriculture, which is the Care and Maintenance of trees.”

David aged 28, also received Book Vouchers to the value of £20.  Thanking Mr. Jarvis, David said “I would recommend Herefordshire College of Technology’s Forestry course to anyone, the excellent standard of teaching was instrumental in winning the award.” David’s efforts also gain him a year’s free membership to the Society.
