Sweet taste of success for HCT student
Nathan Mizen enjoyed the sweet taste of success when he took second place for his desert, apple soufflé with roasted plums, in a ‘Savour the Wye’ Student Chef of the Year competition on 1st October.
Nathan, a Hospitality and Catering Student (NVQ 2) at Herefordshire College of Technology, was one of 10 students taking part from ‘five miles around the borders’. The event held at The Royal Forest of Dean College, was part of an ongoing campaign by Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, to recognise the advantages and encourage the use of local produce. The competion was judged by Franco Taruschio, well known chef from the Walnut Tree, Keith Fairbank, news editor for the Free Press and Tim Wingrove, Manager of Waitrose, Monmouth who kindly sponsored the event.
