Residential Trip to the Welsh International Tournament at Aberystwth
On 20th July a party of current and next year’s students will embark on a trip to Aberystwyth. This is an annual tour which is a pre-season warm up for the Hereford United Youth Team who are part of the BTEC and Sports Course at HCT.
The tournament is played over 5 days with a game each day and the last 2 days forming the 'knock-out' stages. Last year we were successful in reaching the under 17 age group final which was also televised on Sky Sports and featured on Sky Sports News for the next month. In the past the tournament has even featured sides from America, Mexico, Brazil, India and several Irish sides.
The students also take the opportunity to train alongside playing the matches and preparing team tactics for the forthcoming season for the football league youth alliance.
One of the highlights in recent years has been the traditional after-match cool down in the sea, whether it’s rainy or sunny and coaches take part as well!
The students are accommodated in the student village of Aberystwyth University and in the evenings they have the opportunity to sample the high spots of Aberystwyth. This is a great opportunity for staff and new team members to get to know each other and prepare for the forthcoming season.
