Around 200 people came to Herefordshire College of Technology on Thursday 10th July for the Faculty of Technology awards evening. Various companies sponsored awards including Border Office Supplies, Hereford Group Training Association (HGTA), Sigma Kaylon, LG Harris & Co Ltd, Construction Consumables and Hereford Industrial Supplies. Our thanks to these companies for their continued support and encouragement. The Paul Boots Endeavour Award, awarded to the student showing strength of character was presented to Luke Morgan, Advanced Apprentice in Motor Vehicle student. Ben Davies, received the Outstanding Achievement Award (Construction) Shield, while Chris Radnor was presented with the Outstanding Achievement Award (Engineering) Shield. Polly Garnet (14-19 Strategy Manager for the Children and Young People’s Directorate of Herefordshire Council) kindly agreed to be guest speaker for the evening. Polly’s role is to encourage young people to stay on after compulsory education, this includes adding alternatives to academic GCSEs such as BTECs, Young Apprenticeships as well as introducing the new diplomas and results in more young people taking up learning after school. Polly was also responsible for introducing EMA to the County.
