Building a Brighter Future!

Vikki at the Skills Build competitionVikki Cooper, age 19, from Worcester, went to Blessed Edward School before starting her career with G & J Sedden Ltd, a leading building contractor based in Worcester. Vikki is employed as a Painting and Decorating Apprentice via the Herefordshire College of Technology Training Division and attends college one day a week.  She is currently working towards gaining an NVQ Level 3.

Impressed with Vikki's skills, Seddon’s entered Vikki for the annual 'SkillBuild' competition, Britain’s biggest skills competition - searching for Britain’s best young builders across a variety of construction trades.

In preparation for the competition Vikki attended Seddon’s training centre in Stoke, perfecting her skills at HCT. She went to a South West regional competition - where she won first place. There were 13 regional finals and 15 competitors per region. Vikki did herself, Seddon’s and the College very proud.

Vikki said “I always fancied becoming a painter and decorator and I have thoroughly enjoyed the course so far”.

Phil Stevens, HCT lecturer commented “Vikki did really well. She coped with the pressure, time constraints, level of technical difficulty and focused completely”.
