'Bush Direct' Visit HCT

Bush Direct at HCTHerefordshire College of Technology’s Holme Lacy campus played host to a special guest on Tuesday the 18th of November. Bertus Venter, co-founder of Bush Direct, visited the land-based campus to talk to a large group of animal care students about volunteering in some of Africa’s most beautiful game reserves, parks and animal sanctuaries.

Bertus grew up in Tzaneen, near the Kruger National Park, and from a young age gained bush survival skills whilst also having close contact with animals and big game. He has been involved over many years with running tourist safaris and knows the sanctuaries and the veterinary surgeons personally.

Bertus spends many months during the winter, touring colleges and universities throughout the UK, offering students a wonderful opportunity to 'get up close and personal' with some of the worlds wildest animals.

The students were treated to a presentation on what Bush Direct has to offer and some short, heart-warming films of baby vervet monkeys and white lions being bottle-fed. As a result of the talk, many of the students said they would consider one of the many trips available in the future.
