HCT Public Services Students win the British College Cup
Herefordshire College of Technology were selected by the Army to participate in the annual British College Cup, an event held for competing college's in the West Midlands.
Ten students from the Public Services National Diploma course competed against 7 other college's from the West Midlands in a demanding 4 day schedule. The students had to navigate land by map and compass, covering 10 miles a day and completing physical and mental challenges along the way (this included a stretcher race, log race, bleep test and land rover pull, amongst others). The teams also had to find 6 orienteering markers and attempt to arrive back first in order to gain extra points. This all led to the 'grand finale' of the final assault course on the Friday morning.
Our students managed to come first on both days as well as winning the final assault course thereby making them worthy winners of the British Army College Cup. Course Tutor Michelle Swithenbank commented - "I am extremely proud of them, they have worked so very hard". Sports Co-ordinator at HCT Hue Pritchard also received praise for his motivational skills as well as his own achievement in winning the staff race on the final day!
