HCT Graduation Ceremony at Worcester Cathedral
Congratulations to all Herefordshire College of Technology students who graduated on Wednesday 4th November 2009.
Twenty two Foundation Degree in Learning Support students donned graduation gowns for the ceremony at Worcester Cathedral. The event was blessed with a beautiful autumn day and the sun shone as they celebrated their achievement.
The atmosphere in the Cathedral was fantastic as guests arrived and settled down for the ceremony to commence. Special guests in attendance included: Ian Peake, HCT Principal and Chief Executive; Mike Nelson, from the Schools Improvement Service at Herefordshire Council; and Christine Robertson, HCT Education Team-leader.
The students took their seats along with proud family members, friends and College staff before being called to receive their scrolls and announced as Graduates. Following the ceremony, the students and guests returned to the University to celebrate with a well earned glass of wine.
Many of this year’s students have already progressed onto further courses at the University in order to top up their Foundation Degree to a full BA (Hons) degree. They were joined at the graduation ceremony by five former HCT students who had completed their Foundation Degree in Learning Support last year and who were now being awarded with their BA (Hons) in this ceremony.
Ian Peake commented, “This is a tremendous celebration, one of the outstanding highlights of HCT’s academic year. Our Foundation Degree in Learning Support students have done really well, thanks to their hard work, the commitment and expertise of their tutor and the support of their families, friends and employers”.
