Health & Safety & Training Awareness Day - huge success!

Tayler Lane - timber- framed houseTaylor Lane, one of Britain’s leading timber frame manufacturing companies, teamed up with Herefordshire College of Technology to deliver a valuable health and safety and training awareness day for employees and sub contractors. Taylor Lane has been in business for over 25 years, providing a wide range of products suited to both large scale projects and bespoke self-builds. Their clients include developers, housing associations, commercial building sectors and self-builders.  

As part of the United Kingdom Timber Frame Association (UKTFA) Taylor Lane, based at the Rotherwas Industrial Estate in Hereford, are keen to uphold their responsibilities and ensure that employees and sub contractors undergo formal training to demonstrate their competence and increase their skills levels in all relevant health and safety and work related issues.

Hosted at HCT’s Holme Lacy campus, over 50 people attended for sessions including designer and erector training, incorporating issues relating to the Working At Height Regulations. The manufacturers of safety products currently used by Taylor Lane were also present to demonstrate and re-enforce the safe use of Rhino Load Decking and Forest Safety Products Soft Landing System.

Managing Directors of Taylor Lane, Colin Taylor and Barrie Lane, along with many key and influential guest speakers from the Industry took part, including Ray Curran, the Education and Training Officer from the United Kingdom Timber Frame Association (UKTFA) and Andrew Kingscott, HM Principle Inspector HSE.

David Baldwin, Taylor Lane’s Health and Safety Manager commented “Our thanks to all those involved, the day was a huge success for both employers and employees – we certainly hope to repeat it again”.

HCT’s Business Development Team hopes to be able to assist Taylor Lane and UKTFA with delivering flexible training for employees and sub contractors in this Industry in the near future - providing nationally recognised qualifications that are transferable throughout the Industry.
