What a Result!

Herefordshire College of Technology tutors and youth team management duo, Colin Williams and Gary Stevens have expressed their delight at Tyler Weir and Joel Edwards' progression from Hereford United Youth Team to the First Team.

The two promising youngsters have just completed their BTEC National Diploma Sports Performance and Excellence course at Herefordshire College of Technology’s Holme Lacy Campus. Both students were part of the Hereford United Youth Team and showed great potential. Tyler & Joel follow in the footsteps of former students Andy Williams, Sam Gwynne and Craig Jones.

Entering the glamorous world of professional football stardom, the pair will now have to undertake the gruelling 4 day a week, 3 hourly training sessions including monitoring of their fitness and diet to optimise maximum performance on the pitch.

Colin Williams stated "Gary and I are thrilled that two more Holme Lacy campus students have joined the Bulls, the Sports Performance and Excellence course will give them fantastic foundations for a long career as professional footballers”.

Tutor, Colin Williams, also confirmed that two other Sports Performance and Excellence students are set to join in with Hereford United training sessions this season. Keeper Matthew Gwynne and Striker, Aidan Thomas, will join  John Trewicks squad in order to gain much needed experience. Both players show great potential to make the first team, once they have completed their studies.

John Trewick, Manager Hereford United FC commented “congratulations to Joel Edwards and Tyler Weir on their award of a contract at Hereford United Football Club. Joel and Tyler have worked hard for the last two seasons playing for the Hereford United Youth Team, whilst studying at Herefordshire College of Technology. Both lads now start a new development era in their lives. They have a great opportunity to develop their skill to progress in their chosen career. I hope in the future their talents will see them rewarded by following former students, Sam Gwynne and Craig Jones into the First Team”.
