Course Tutors - Gary Stevens and Colin WilliamsHerefordshire College of Technology are proud to announce that their highly successful Football Academy has linked up with Cheltenham Town Football Club.

“CTFC Academy Director, John Brough, was glad to take advantage of the opportunity that our programme offers young players,” comments HCT course tutor, Gary Stevens. Since its inception, the Academy has progressed seven of its players on to professional contracts, in football. Former students have also progressed on to other professional leagues such as the Welsh Premier League.

Football Academy students study to achieve a BTEC in Performance and Excellence. This is a level 3 course and offers them a pathway to university which many students have followed in order to pursue alternative careers. Alongside the academic work, students have the chance to improve their football skills working with FA Qualified coaches and tutors.

Students will represent CTFC in the Midland Floodlit Youth League and travel to CTFC training ground on a regular basis to play their academy side, as well as having the chance to be selected for their Youth Alliance side. Course tutor, Colin Williams added, “We are excited by this new venture and are looking forward to the opportunity this link will create for our talented young players.”
