HCT Wins the LABC Award for 'Best Education Development'
Local Authority Building Control (LABC) officers for local government councils in the West of England recently declared Herefordshire College of Technology as ‘winner’ for the regional award for ‘Best Education Development’ as well as a finalist for ‘Best Partnership’. HCT was chosen against competition from other new schools, further education and university buildings in the West of England.
LABC promote the design and construction of safe, accessible, environmentally efficient buildings that comply with the Building Regulations. LABC is all about excellence achieved through building standards, technical innovation and sustainable designs. This excellence is celebrated through local, regional and national award ceremonies, which are held throughout the year with categories incorporating every class of building.
Herefordshire College of Technology, Architects; Stubbs Rich Ltd and Hewitt Studios LLP and main Contractor, Willmott Dixon Construction Ltd, celebrated achieving the awards at a ceremony held on Friday 9th July at the Bristol Royal Marriott Hotel.
LABC commented "Through the Hereford Learning Village redevelopment, a tired 1960’s college campus gave way to a series of vibrant buildings incorporating design features both innovative and striking, with a set of credentials enviable in terms of technology and sustainability. In short, a campus more fitting for a cutting edge education facility in the 21st century.”
