Local Company Helps Grow New Talent

Carpenter Goodwin at Holme LacyLeominster based business Carpenter Goodwin, one of the UK's largest independent agricultural and industrial parts companies, visited Herefordshire College of Technology’s Holme Lacy Campus to show Agricultural Engineering students the latest diagnostic software for new tractors produced by Texa industries.

Richard Carpenter from Carpenter Goodwin Ltd commented “We are one of the main UK distributors for Vapormatic who have introduced the Texa diagnostic equipment, covering all models of tractors. It is quite a revolution for the industry as it gives the engineer the freedom to work with a variety of different models of tractors with the same diagnostic software. It will give the students a key insight in to the rapidly changing world of agricultural technology. It’s in the best interest of all parties involved to support our industry, so it is hoped that everyone will benefit from this experience.”

Approximately 40 students attended the equipment demonstration and Agricultural Engineering Lecturer Richard Rudge commented that he was pleased about how the students are progressing from education to employment. “Most of the students are hoping to go in to engineering in the future and have already secured employment in the industry. Although this demonstration is part of their assessment it is also vital in keeping them up to date with the latest equipment.”
