HCT's Holme Lacy Campus Open Day 2010
Herefordshire College of Technology's Holme Lacy campus Open Day took place on Saturday 12th June. This year the event was blessed with beautiful sunshine and welcomed over 1,000 visitors.
Each year the campus opens its gates to the public for an informative, fun and action packed day out. 00000The event was officially opened by The Deputy Mayor, Councillor Woodward and her consort, Mr Woodward.
Staff and students showcased a wide range of the superb work that goes on at the campus.
Students from the Equine yard did the College proud with a range of displays including Musical Rides, Grid Jumping and Simulated Cross Country Riding.
Numerous other displays included sheep shearing, ATV, forestry, dog agility, blacksmithing and forging, student gardens, floristry and HCT’s Hereford show cattle parade - to name just a few, ensuring there was plenty to see.
For those who fancied ‘having a go’ there was clay shooting, sports challenges, flower arranging and opportunities to shine in the main ring with activities including Agility, Balance and Coordination techniques, dog agility and leading the show cattle - who will be at the Three Counties Show this coming week.
Visitors were free to wander around the site, meet the residents in the Animal Care unit and admire the beautiful gardens, tended by Horticultural students and Learners with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities. Tractor and trailer rides took guests further afield, around the 257 hectare and working farm.
Many locals visit each year, others travelled from as far as Wrexham and Yorkshire to find out more about the courses on offer.
HCT would like to thank all those involved, the day was a huge success.
