Faculty of Technology Awards 2011

More than 200 people attended Herefordshire College of Technology’s Faculty of Technology awards on July 4th. The atmosphere was superb as family, friends, employers and staff gathered to celebrate the success of Engineering, Construction, Foundation Studies, Functional Skills and Skills for Life students.

Level 2 Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Apprentice - Richard SmithAround 60 students were selected by their tutors from over 3000 to receive Top Student, Top Practical Student and Progression awards across the subject areas. A special accolade, The Paul Boots Endeavour Award, went to Level 2 Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Apprentice Richard Smith, who put a huge amount of extra effort and study into gaining a qualification in record time.

Team Leader for Construction, Howard Repton, commented: “It is wonderful to share the successes of our students with their families, friends and employers.”

Briony Vaughan, Stage Electrics Warehouse Technician, was Guest of Honour. Briony completed the BTEC National Diploma in Music Technology at HCT in 2006. She now works in the music industry.

She gave an inspirational speech, concluding: "Students: think about what you want to become, and become your dream."
