HCT Host West Midlands Ability Counts League

HCT doing battle with Birmingham MetHerefordshire College of Technology (HCT) played host to the latest round of the British Colleges West Midlands Ability Counts League. The league uses a 7 a-side format and is for students with learning difficulties or disabilities, aged 16-19.  Eleven colleges are affiliated to the league, making it the most established of its kind.

On a day with rain, sleet and snow there was some excellent football played by all 7 colleges who attended and coaches and players from all colleges must be commended. Birmingham Met won this round of fixtures with an impressive 5 wins and 1 draw and didn’t concede a single goal. HCT played well but wayward finishing resulted in them winning 1, drawing 2 and losing 3. This led to them slipping in the overall table from 3rd place to 4th. Henley College still lead the overall table and will represent the West Midlands at a National Championship if they maintain their position.

The day couldn’t have taken place without student volunteers Nick Britain, Rhys Harvey & Seb, who refereed the matches and the help of Hereford Leisure Centre staff.
