AAT Accounting - Levels 2 and 3

We offer a wide variety of Accounting and Finance courses. These are attractive to both school leavers and the more mature learner. This course might suit someone who is considering returning to work. It is perfect for anyone looking to develop skills that enable them to balance a home life with part-time or full-time work, or even enable them to work from home.

It will also be very useful for those wanting a career change. The courses are very practical and give participants the knowledge and confidence to go out into the working world of accountancy.

The programmes will run over 3 days per week and the hours will suit those with young families, i.e. between 9.00am and 3.00pm.

Level 2 Certificate in Accounting

You will learn the skills necessary to work with:

  • Recording finance transactions
  • Ledgers
  • Trial balance
  • Petty cash and cash books
  • Effective working
  • Basic costing
  • Computerised accounting

If you wish, you may then progress to the Accounting Level 3 Diploma or the Accounting Level 4 Diploma.  Each level takes one academic year to complete.

Level 3 Diploma in Accounting

You will learn the skills necessary to work with:

  • Preparation of final accounts for partnerships and sole traders
  • Cash management
  • Providing cost and revenue information
  • Preparing and completing VAT returns
  • Spreadsheets
  • Professional ethics in accounting and finance
  • Indirect tax

Further Study

Functional Skills

All full-time learners will be required to study Functional Skills at the appropriate level. These will be in maths, English and in some cases ICT. Attendance to these sessions is mandatory, please refer to the Functional Skills page of the website.
