Foundation Studies

Successful student receives their Community Volunteering CertificateFoundation Studies is an area of the College that promotes young people toward further training and employment. These courses are full time and cater for learners who can study at Entry 3 and Level 1. They have proved to be very popular with learners who do not feel ready for employment.
 
The courses offered within Foundation Studies are:

  • BTEC Introductory Certificate / Diploma in Engineering

 

  • BTEC Introductory Certificate / Diploma in Construction
  • OCR Employability Skills E3 & L1

 

These courses are very popular, so it is advisable to enquire as soon as you can.

The courses have a strong pastoral element to them and each student has a timetabled tutorial each week.

  • Work experience opportunities
  • Opportunities for personal and social development

Functional Skills

All full-time learners will be required to study Functional Skills at the appropriate level. These will be in maths, English and in some cases ICT. Attendance to these sessions is mandatory, please refer to the Functional Skills section of this website for more details.
