Complementary and Alternative Therapies:
Diploma – Level 3
Complementary and alternative therapies are a range of therapies that aim to restore, harmonise and rebalance the spirit of the individual. The whole lifestyle of the person is taken into consideration, including diet, exercise, occupation, relationships and relaxation through one to one consultations.
This is an intensive course, which places high demands on the individual regarding level of motivation, dedication and enthusiasm. In addition to college attendance, you must also be committed to spending at least two days a week on home study for assignments and revision including practical case studies.
Course Content:
- Principles and practice for complementary therapies
- Business practice for complementary therapies
- Health, safety and hygiene for complementary therapies
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology for complementary therapies
- Provide body massage for complementary therapies
- Reflective practice for body massage
- Provide aromatherapy
- Reflective practice for aromatherapy
- Provide reflexology
- Reflective practice for reflexology
Completion of all modules within the diplomas is done through on-going assessment. There are external exam papers during the programme.
Functional Skills
All full-time learners will be required to study Functional Skills at the appropriate level. These will be in maths, English and in some cases ICT. Attendance to these sessions is mandatory, please refer to the Functional Skills section of this website for more details.

Entry Requirements:
It is recommended that you have GCSE passes in English, maths and sciences. Life experience is particularly useful as part of this programme. Acceptance on to this course is subject to interview and diagnostic testing in literacy and numeracy.
